报告人简介:

Prof. Andreas Matzarakis, From August 2015 to March 2024 leading the Research Centre Human Biometeorology of the German Meteorological Service in Freiburg. Appointed as extraordinary Professor at the University of Freiburg since October 2006. Member of the University council of the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece. Vice-President of the International Society of Biometeorology (2009-2012). President of the Society for the Promotion of Human-Biometeorological research in Germany (2016-2025). Chairman of the Commission Climate, Tourism and Recreation (2005-2015). Member of the Management Committee of the Global Heat Health Information Network (2017-2024). Reviewer and Author for IPCC reports III, IV, V and VI.

Developer of several models and tools in applied climatology and biometeorology i.e.RayMan Model, SkyHelios Model, Climate Mapping Tool and CTIS (Climate-Tourism-Information-Scheme).

内容梗概:

Extreme heat and heat waves are conditions we are facing more frequently. They will become more frequent in the future. It is not only a goal of climate and human biometeorology, but also of public health, to know how to quantify heat and in particular human exposure to heat stress. Thermal indices provide a means of quantifying the impact of the thermal environment on humans. They are based on the energy exchanged between the human body and the surrounding atmosphere. The concept of equivalent temperatures summarises most of the effects in one value of the temperature and can be more easily communicated as a value of the energy fluxes. The calculation of the thermal indices requires meteorological and thermo-physiological input data. In addition, there is a need for the appropriate knowledge and application of models for simulations at the micro-scale. The different thermal indices (PET, UTCI, mPET) and their capabilities and limitations are presented.
